Some user-managed UW-owned devices are running Sophos Home instead of Sophos Enterprise. If you cannot uninstall using the prior instructions, you should follow the Sophos Home uninstall instructions here for Macs and here for Windows or email help@uw.edu with “Sophos Home” in the title.
Failing to uninstall Sophos by Aug. 30 may slow your device and leave it unprotected.

After removing Sophos your system’s default antivirus protection should start running. Most operating systems include built-in tools that will activate after Sophos is uninstalled:
